kunanyi/Mt. Wellington and Cascade Brewery
Departing the Information & Travel Centre at 1:30pm we enjoy short drive via the historic South Hobart with its grand estates and stunning mountain views.
Only 15 minutes from the city centre, we arrive in the leafy village of Fern Tree, here we take the Pinnacle Road and start our journey to the summit. The road can be bumpy and winding, please let us know if you want the front seat.
Arriving at the summit, view Hobart from the 3 lookouts and stand on the 1,272m pinnacle point. Rug up, it gets cold on the top. There are toilet facilities and we always carry a few spare jackets for your comfort.
Explore on your own or follow your guide for a walk to learn about the mountains historical past. We spend at least 30 minutes on the summit - if the weather allows. If views are in cloud we will take you to a lower lookout point.
Passing by the 'Springs' we can stop for a short walk to view the famous Organ Pipes or grab a coffee from our friends at Lost Freight cafe (time permitting).
Driving around the base of the mountain, we follow the Hobart rivulet arriving at the site of Australia's oldest brewery.
The last stop of the day is Cascades Brewery, whose history is intimately tied to the mountain. Enjoy a wander in the beautiful gardens, visit the history room or simply enjoy Australia's longest brewed beer, the cascade pale ale.
We arrive back at the Hobart waterfront at approx. 4:00pm. We can offer to drop you along the way in the city, at Salamanca or close to the cruise ship terminal (permitted the road is open to the public).
